Something to help

All of us at the offices of the Stockdale Group are joined in wanting to do ‘Something to Help’.

Giving back, as a team

On the last Friday of every month we have a dress-down day, when we donate into a kitty and give the proceeds to our chosen charity.

As individuals, we take on challenges for charities that have special significance to us, or enter organised team events that raise money for great causes — while creating a fun team spirit for everyone involved.

Cornwall Community Foundation

As a Cornish, family-run group of companies, the Stockdale Group is a member of the Cornwall 100 Club — the business club of the Cornwall Community Foundation — and we’re delighted to be part of it.

Its members are companies dedicated to and passionate about Cornwall, helping to raise funds that are invested into communities throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Challenges we’ve taken on

Miles for Maisie: the Stockdale team taking part

April 2017

Miles for Maisie

In aid of the Anaphylaxis Campaign

Sharon Stockdale

Maisie died aged 21 from anaphylactic shock after eating a health bar containing peanuts in January 2015. She had spent summers working on the island, and the walk was an opportunity for those who loved her to reflect together in a place she loved, and to continue raising funds in her memory. The funds raised are being used to develop a tool to increase awareness among those at risk.

“At the beginning of April I was humbled to be included in a wonderful group of Maisie’s family and friends for a 25km walk from Magaluf to remember a very special young lady.”
Pretty Muddy: the Stockdale team taking part

October 2016

Pretty Muddy

In aid of Cancer Research UK

Sharon Stockdale, Cath Roberts, Becky Strang, Becky Brett and Sophie Stockdale

A team of Stockdale Group ladies set off to Plymouth to take part in the Pretty Muddy 5K, with various fun — if somewhat muddy — challenges along the way. It was a glorious sunny day, with an enormous number of teams all having a great time while raising money for a cause that is close to many of us.

Drop the Boss: the Stockdale team taking part

February 2016

Drop the Boss

In aid of Heart’s Global’s Make Some Noise

Sharon Stockdale

With the support (or was it bullying tactics?) of Cath Roberts and Sophie Stockdale, along with some of the family, Sharon was escorted to the top of the tower, strapped into a harness, and sent head first across the top of the Eden Project — all for a great cause.

“This seemed like a great idea at the time, but as the day drew closer, the reality that I’m absolutely terrified of heights began to sink in! What continues to amaze me most of all is that some people actually pay to do this!”
Commando Challenge: the Stockdale team taking part

October 2015

Commando Challenge

In aid of the Royal Marines & Devon Air Ambulance

Alan Duff, David Ellicott, Becky Strang, Lisa Wilton and Ben Nurse

This was definitely a challenge. The team worked hard on their fitness in preparation and did an amazing job, all finishing together in a great time. A 10k run over territory the Marines use for their training — through obstacles including the infamous tunnel under water — this was not for the faint-hearted! A strong support crew of colleagues and family cheered them on around the course.

The Great Wall of China: the Stockdale team taking part

September 2014

The Great Wall of China

In aid of the David Rundle Trust

Sharon Stockdale

A six-day hike along the Great Wall of China, with 28 fundraisers all raising money for charities close to their hearts. Most days were spent walking along what the guides call ‘The Wild Wall’, with breathtaking scenery, only the occasional local farmer for company, and local accommodation each night.

“A fairly gruelling though totally amazing week, and definitely an experience of a lifetime. The wall as we see it in holiday brochures is quite remarkable — but for me, nothing came close to the remoteness and beauty of the wild parts.”
